The National Safety Council and the Motorcycle Safety Foundation have partnered to produce the Internet-based Motorcycle Safety Program. This program has been designed to teach experienced riders key concepts and strategies to promote safe motorcycle riding. The course focuses on collision prevention by introducing riders to the techniques used to minimize risks by applying specific street riding strategies to improve safe riding practices. In addition, the course also addresses rider physical and mental skills, handling special riding situations and the effects of drugs and alcohol on riding.
The course is highly interactive with multiple exercises and activities, full motion video, animations and graphics. Students may progress at their own pace and the system has an automatic book marking feature that allows users to exit and return to where they left as often as they would like.
Upon successful completion of the Motorcycle Safety program Online, the student can receive an official National Safety Council - Motorcycle Safety Foundation Motorcycle Safety Program Online Certificate of Completion that in many states can be used for motorcycle insurance discounts.
